A VINTAGE INDIAN SHRINE OR DISPLAY TABLE. CONSTRUCTED IN THE TROPICAL HARDWOOD, TEAK, TURNED LEGS FINISHED IN A SACRED VERMILION COLOUR PALETTE. This pretty shrine or display table dates to the second half of the 20th c. Having been constructed from the tropical hardwood, teak. The legs have been turned on a lathe, and finished in a sacred vermillion colour palette, typical of this genre of vintage Indian furniture.IMAGES 4, 5 & 9. It may well have been home to a shrine or a deity in a previous incarnation, something we have alluded to in images 1, 6, 8 & 9. Equally, it would make an excellent display table for a plant or vase of flowers, magazines... Even an occasional coffee table. Recently re-waxed in the workshop.
