Depicted in the this delightful. Is a sadhu, a holy man, wondering in the wilderness.On his forehead, signifying his devotion to Lord. He is garlanded, carries a begging bowl and shields from the heat of the sun under an artisan umbrella. The spiritual image is framed at the top by a Mughal arched frieze, edged with a pelmet in gold. Is very much in the Indian tradition, in which generation after generation of painters recreate images that have gone before with, no doubt, Indian minatures being used as inspiration in this respect.
Tradition, an engraving is laid down on the back of the glass before water or gum arabic paints are applied. This is then fired in a kiln ensuring the paint bonds permanently with the glass.
