An early 20th century antique Indian hunting carpet, the camel field with an overall pattern of blue split leaves, floral motifs, hunters and animals surrounding a central elephant within a slate blue border with Peris (for fairy), birds, and floral motifs. Manufactured in the prisons of India, antique North Indian rugs were products of a cottage industry controlled by families of carpet weavers.
