Vintage Brass Silver Copper Inlay Puja Plate Chased & Embossed Hindu Ceremonial. Here we have a highly decorative Indian puja/worship plate.

This kind of plate is used in Hindu homes and temples. In Hindu homes, each home has a temple or shrine people worship the gods and use plates like this to keep various things like a Diya light, flowers, food, holy water, etc. These things are then offered to the gods during daily puja & ceremonies. These are very ornate examples and would be used in wealthier homes on special occasions such as Diwali.

This plate would most likely date from the around early to mid- 20th century, made in South India in either Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh. The Indian silver has tarnished with age and the plate overall has a lovely age-related patina.

Embossed and finely chased with great detail this would be the work of skilled craftsmen and used on special occasions. A bird is depicted at the centre of the plate with ornate scrollwork radiating out to the scalloped edge. 300mm in diameter and 1mm thick and weighs approximately 320g.
