Rare Vintage Moorish Sajai Jewellery Box inlaid with Agate Stones, Hand Made

  

Vintage Moorish Sajai white silver and plated with agate stones. An heart shape Jewellery box hand-made in India, this Moorish Sajai style (middle of 19th century), it is made from nonferous white/silver metal with multi-colored agates and intricately applied metal windings. Sajai meaning'to decorate or beautify. This is really an work of art, made by Indian artisans, using natural agate mined usually from the western Coast of India.

The agates of all colors with theirs minor imperfections are inherent qualities of handcrafted articles and in this case to be almost expected as they have been mined.
