Pair of Tall vintage hand-carved stands frorm India pre-war

  

Pair of matched vintage hand-carved tall stands, bought in India 1930-40's and truly unusual. These will be a true talking point as well as a good strong tall stands for display.

Brought back to this country from India in 1950 and used carefully since. One has been exposed to sunlight and the lower part of the wood has faded. Have not attempted to stain it dark again but believe there is no reason why this could not be restored to the same colour.

It appears that the elephants at the base originally had small tusks added, but only one is still present (see photo). Please see other listings of antique Indian furniture from the same home.
