Large Indian hardwood carved Jali fretwork panel, top arch panel. Further photos available if you get in contact. We used it as a bed headboard in our previous home, by placing a padded/upholstered headboard behind it. The jali panel was fixed to stand proud of the spongy panel behind. See last photo, 2nd picture down & far left of that picture.
Made up of individual carved panels, all different. Some have a slightly green stain/patina. We believe the panel is made of mango wood, a hardwood with many of the core & visual characteristics that can be seen in teak. There are therefore some scratches, dents, discoloration commensurate with its age & previous use - all'damage' that adds to its character & authenticity. There are three screw holes (top centre & one either side) which allowed the panel to be previously fixed to the wall.
These could be easily plugged/filled if not to be utilised again. There is a small section (2nd to last photo) which has come away from frame, but this too is easily repaired/glued back on. All in all, this is a lovely decorative piece which has been in storage for 12 years.
We have acknowledged that it is not likely to be used again by us in our current home, which is much more modern than our last & so we have decided to sell rather than store it any longer. The dimensions are as follows. Ideal dimensions for a headboard for a double/king/super king size bed with/without bedside tables. The panel is not heavy, but it is large & unwieldy.Collection in person only please. Cash only on collection please.
