An original old Indian Miniature painting, an equestrian portrait of a Rajput nobleman from Rajasthan. Gouache on paper, a polychrome colour palette. Sourced from an important British, single-owner collection started in 1968. This exquisitely executed miniature painting, features a Rajput nobleman on horseback flanked by two attendants.

It is an authentic old Indian miniature hand painted in a polychrome and gold colour palette. Protected in a more recent frame, it's in excellent unmarked condition, and. Dates to the mid-20th c. Miniatures commissioned by the former Mughal Royal courts centuries ago were rarely, if ever, signed, a tradition that continues to this day.

Indian miniature painting is a complex art form requiring both skill and patience. Originally, artists used natural pigments made from crushed minerals, stones and vegetables to create the colours used in their painting.
