Antique Vintage Indian Cabinet. Art Deco. Display Bathroom. Powder Pink & Teak

  

A vintage teak display cabinet, finished in a distressed powder pink over rubbed teak. Seminal Art Deco detailing to the top and bottom pelmets, waxed teak panelling to the interior. A particularly pretty decorator's piece.

This vintage teak cabinet has been sourced from the Bhavnagar District in Gujarat, Indias westernmost state, and would have been used to display medicines in an apothecary or chemist. You, however, may prefer to employ it to make a decorative statement in a contemporary bathroom, bedroom, kitchen or living space. Finished in a distressed powder pink over rubbed, exposed teak, it certainly has the look. Or, to be more precise, an Art Deco look.

Dating back to Colonial India in the 1920s and the last days of the Raj, think Channel 4s Sunday night series, Indian Summers, and you won't go far wrong. This cabinet would add a touch of Bombay chic to any contemporary interior, and is one of several. This cabinet is freestanding, retains its original door furniture and comes fitted with later hanging hooks to the rear.
