A large upright, antique Nepalese domestic shrine or altar. Distressed, with age on its facet. Beautifully hand-carved Buddha motifs, in addition to ceremonial lions and depictions of Ekadas Lokeswar, the 11-headed all-seeing deity, both facet of the Buddha. This exquisite, hand-carved sacred shrine or altar in a compressed tropical Indian hardwood, has been sourced from Kathmandu in Nepal. A large distinctive Buddha motif central to its design, as are deities of varying sizes, ceremonial lions and presenting vases to the front main edge. The Buddha depicted here, in common with different mortal Buddhas, wears monastic garments however not ornaments or a crown. The right shoulder and breast is left bare, and the massive protuberance to the pinnacle of the cranium is referred to as ushnisa, which is seemed as the receptacle of the divine mind, or mana.

Buddha is seated withinside the Vajraparyanka pose displaying the Bhusparsa Mudra, the earth touching mudra, calling the earth for witness. His proper hand rests on his knee with the top of the center finger touching the ground, and the palm drawn inwardly. His left hand, with palms outstretched, palm dealing with upwards holds a begging bowl.

In this pose the calm and contemplative facial features is maximum enchanting. There are similarly miniature Buddhas to the pinnacle of the rear panel, in addition to depictions of Ekadas Lokeswar, the 11-headed god capable of searching in each course to shield all creatures. Gold braid covers all uncovered edges across the shrine, with true sacred red, orange and sandstone tikka powders to the floor at no more charge. The motifs are hand-modelled in clay earlier than being introduced to the shrine which dates lower back to the second one 1/2 of of the twentieth century.
