Antique Indian Raj Period Lucknow Silver Repousse Hunting Scenes Pedestal Bowl

  

A late 19th or early 20th century Raj period silver bowl from India. It is of pedestal form and has a (vacant) shield suggesting it was perhaps intended as a trophy or presentation item. The repousse scene with stipple ground consists of both animals and people hunting.

This item is marked to the base with 90 for the Silver grade and DC which is likely the makers mark. It is of a good gauge of silver and thicker than average. This style is associated with production in the Lucknow region of Northern India. Normal period wear and ageing, some patination forming and it will of course bright polish if you prefer this look. Bowl slightly compressed on the foot.
