Antique 19th Century Silk Zardosi Waistcoat. Ottoman, Indian, Vintage. Small

  

This antique 19th century waistcoat is a true gem for collectors of unique textiles. Made from silk velvet and intricately decorated with gold and silver zardosi embroidery and lined with silk, it is a stunning addition to any collection.

The waistcoat is small in size, and a rare find for those who appreciate historical fashion. Possibly up to the 1920s, though. Handmade to a high standard.

Couloir is a very pale green - best seen in the first couple of images. Probably Ottoman Empire, although possibly Near East or Indian subcontinent. It a beautiful example in excellent condition for its age. If I had to make a decision, I would say mid 19th century with some later additions (internal pockets), from the region around Ottoman Turkey.
