Sourced from Kathmandu in Nepal, this highly emotive, large Buddha mask has been hand-carved in a tropical softwood, before a layer of gesso added and paint applied. Decorated in black, pale sepia, sacred orange and coral, this carved mask proudly displays its Nepalese beginnings. This highly decorative Buddha Mask , hand-carved from a single piece of tropical softwood, comes to us via a reliable source. We can't guarantee the exact age of this Buddha Mask, though it certainly has some age on its side. As a rule of thumb, the export of artefacts over 100 years of age is restricted from Nepal. This probably dates to late 20th century? Buddhas Masks of this type typically grace Nepalese homes, and are either the focal point of daily contemplation or meditation.
