Antique Vintage Indian Spice Grinding Chakki Table Furniture Coffee Table

  

Quite rare to find now, this is an Indian Chakki or Grinder Table. It is made from tropical hardwood (teak), having metal banding in areas around the upper edge, it has lovely hand carved feet, the table has a stunning look and patina. It would have originally had 2 heavy circular stone grinding stones and would have been used in a village home as a flour mill, the upper cylinder would have rotated on the fixed lower cylinder to grind the wheat into flour, (please see the last image). There is a small hinged side door that could be opened to collect the grain.

It could be repurposed as a. Coffee table, magazine storage, display piece for plants and flowers or even a dog/cat bed. Approx 67cm in diameter x 25cm high weighing approx 12kgs. Sign is for display purposes only and not included in the sale.
