Antique/vintage Aymara Indian hand woven wool Poncho mid 19th century

  

This is a fantastic 19th century hand woven Aymara Indian wool Poncho from Bolivia. We got the opportunity to go to the Coronado Antique Road show last summer. We took this piece as on of our show and tells. The lady that examined it told us the information we are telling you. Because of this we feel assured of the information we are giving you.

We are offering it for much less in hopes that it finds a good home. We have owned it ourselves for several years and find it an interesting piece. The actual color is show in the pics with the model.

The pic of it laying on the ground is actually darker. Interesting how light can change things. There is one tiny mousebite and the only color variations are due to the wool that was spun from animal hair, not dyed and not altered. The red and yellow stripes appear to not be wool but a cotton or hemp.
